Silver Fox

I'm not sure I should say this out loud, it's completely un PC nowadays but I have to confess I do love a good animal pelt. In fact I am unashamed to admit it. Especially when it's as icy cold as it is in London this week. There is something deliciously decadent about wrapping up in a beautiful fur coat and going out into the unknown.

My Mother has an enviable collection of fur, some of which I have managed to inherit. My coat for today - beautiful silvery grey Artic Fox. From the 70's. I felt very Bianca Jagger meets Studio 54. It made me feel like I should hang around with tortured muscians, in a similar vein (excuse the pun) to Kate Moss/Pete Doherty. Without the smack.

It got me thinking though, should you ever buy new fur?

Alot of designers use fur in their collections, in fact it has become a staple again in the past few years to have in a mainline collection. There was a time when it was fashionable to not use fur, and every supermodel stripped off for PETA.

I think over the past few seasons, the tide has turned against fast fashion to buying investment pieces. Buying a fur is a definite investment.  My Mum's is still going strong from 1970, which is no mean feat. I doubt the same can be said for a Primarni coat in 40 years time.

Having done a quick poll of friends, even those who are vegetarians, it seems that the census is as long as it's vintage, it's ok. Is this a double standard, or is it a very eco-friendly and thrifty way to look at fashion, recycling an item that would otherwise go to waste.

For me it has fuck all to do with wanting to save the world, and all about the aesthetics and beauty of the garment. Fashion should transform, and I defy anyone to put on a fur and not feel even a touch of the Joan Collins. x M

Londres Part Deux

Bit of East End graffiti from my travels innit.....

First outing with my new Olympus and lost the lens cap somewhere in E1. Winner! x M

Londres

is freezing this morning. I love sunny winter days, any excuse to break out the Wayfarer and Beanie hat combo.

This Sunday will mainly involve Brick Lane/Roast/walk over the Thames/Design Museum/attempting to use my Olympus properly/Breakfast at Tiffany's. Perfect. x M

FIT

And you know it. Mmm just need to find an extra £4k and I'll be all over this Oscar de la Renta. Despite my lack of funds have already styled it up in my head with my grungy leather jacket, battered up Prada shoe boots, beanie hat and ankle socks. Grunge meets Glamour. My favorite x M

Superenalotto

Is what I need to win.  Celine Pre-Fall 2012 collection. It's the wardrobe I wish I owned. Leather, oversized, tailored and muted with a touch of fur. Right up my street. x M

Crush

I love Daphne Guinness. So by default, I was probably going to pay attention to Mary Charteris, her niece. Seems I have developed a tiny bit of a girl crush on Mary, and keep obsessively checking Vogue.co.uk for her Today I'm Wearing updates.

She started off the pink hair trend that was all over the catwaks for SS12, and throws together quirky bright stand out pieces, simple basics and vintage finds. All very rock and roll meets art student. Plus she's bezza's with Cara Delevingne. I want her life. I would however settle for a quick rob of her wardrobe.

Oldie but a Goodie

Happy 2012. Fuck me where did 2011 go?! Anyway, I do believe that I made myself a promise that I would blog ALOT more often. Which lasted all of 5 minutes as soon as I got busy with Christmas. Or mulled wine. Actually definitely more to do with the mulled wine.

So, pretty poor that my first post of 2012 is on the 10th of January. Basically I am shit. I did however get a pretty amazingly fit (obviously I am all about the style over substance) new camera. Which means I am going to attempt to take alot more pictures.

In the meantime before I obviously dazzle even Testino with my photography skills (I wish) here's one of my favorite pictures. Kate Moss. Corrine Day. The Face. Iconic.

x M

p.s - Just got an email to say I am going to be in French Elle. AMAZING start to 2012!
